The East Coast and Wineglass Bay Tour
The East Coast of Tasmania has some spectacular scenery, and Par Avion give you an opportunity to appreciate this, from both the air, the ground and the sea.
Departing Cambridge, you'll fly up the East Coast of Tasmania toward Freycinet Peninsula, and the famous, Wineglass Bay, named one of the worlds best beaches. You'll fly overhead giving you some great photo opportunities, before tracking south, following the Freycinet Peninsula and track toward Maria Island.
Serving as a penal colony from 1825 until 1850, Darlington on Maria Island, is the most representative and intact example of a probation station in Australia. With its 14 convict buildings and ruins are preserved in a layout that reflects the key features of the probation system in Van Diemen’s Land. The site has remained relatively unchanged since the convict era, and this has been highlighted through the area's recent inclusion as a UNESCO listed World Heritage property.
After experiencing this special place, your tour will then go on the water, and we will give you a chance to see the Maria Island National Park from the Tasman Sea. With a circumnavigation of the island, or a chance to see seal colonies (route varies according to sea conditions). After lunch, you'll board your aircraft and continue towards the Tasman Peninsula, where there is an opportunity to have an aerial view of the Historic Penal settlement of Port Arthur and see the spectacular cliffs found on the eastern side of the Peninsula. You will see the remote Tasman Island lighthouse and flying over Tasmania’s world-renowned big wave surfing destination, Shipsterns Bluff, before returning to Cambridge via the city of Hobart
